Adobe Fresco: Altered Images iPad Art Project

Description

Create bold, contemporary digital artwork inspired by illustrator Kervin Brisseaux with this engaging 5-page iPad art project. Students begin by researching Brisseaux’s work and creating an artist research page using an iPad, computer or sketchbook before following clear, step-by-step instructions to produce their own artwork using the free Adobe Fresco app. The project is designed so that even students with no previous experience of Adobe Fresco can achieve impressive results.

Learning Objectives

Students will:

  • Research the work and style of Kervin Brisseaux.
  • Create an artist research page.
  • Learn the basics of using Adobe Fresco.
  • Apply digital illustration techniques inspired by a contemporary artist.
  • Develop confidence using digital tools to create original artwork.

  • 5-page illustrated PDF resource that includes instructions for the research, photography and digital phases of the project.
  • UK and USA versions (including colour/color spellings).

Timing Guidance

Approximately 3–5 × 50–60 minute lessons, depending on the depth of the research page and the complexity of the final artwork.

Materials/Equipment Required

  • Tablet with the free Adobe Fresco app (recommended), or a compatible device.
  • Stylus. I used my finger to create the artwork in this download but some students prefer a stylus.
  • Internet access for artist research.
  • Alternatively, a sketchbook may be used for the research page.

Sarah Crowther – The Arty Teacher

I set up The Arty Teacher because I have a passion for my subject that I want to share with other art teachers around the world.

I have been a high school art teacher for over 20 years, so I understand what it’s like to be in front of a class of students, often with very different abilities and attitudes.

I wanted to develop resources that would help teachers to bring out the best in every student in every class. I also wanted to free-up staff from time-consuming lesson preparation to let them focus instead on delivering exciting, motivating, dynamic lessons, supported by excellent resources.
