Learning About Colour Schemes is a resource where students use the colour wheel to create different colour schemes in the patterned sections using coloured pencil.  They are asked to create the following colour schemes:

  • Harmonious or Analogous
  • Complementary
  • Split Complementary
  • Triadic
  • Monochromatic

It introduces your students to some essential colour theory terms and explains and visually shows each one.  There is also a colour wheel included (2 on a page) which will help your students with this task.

There is a US version which uses the spelling ‘color’ and the term ‘analogous’ and ‘value’.

There is a UK version which uses the spelling ‘colour’ and the term ‘harmonious’ and ‘tone’.

There are lots of colour resources on The Arty Teacher.
