Differentiation in Art

By The Arty Teacher - November 29, 2020

In the summer I was asked by the Art Education Association of New Jersey to contribute some professional development for their members about differentiation in art, so I created the video below.  This was for their online conference.  I’m pleased to say that AENJ said on Twitter that is was one of the top most-watched videos and I got some very positive feedback from art teachers.

If you are head of your department and want to cascade these ideas to your staff, or if you are new to teaching, this video is an ideal introduction to differentiation.  Differentiation in Art at first seems complicated but this video provides strategies and highlights ways you are already differentiating.

This video includes all the information from my original blog post ‘What is Differentiation in Art’ which has had over 9,000 views.

I also have some professional development for art teachers on the topic of ‘Cultural Captial’ which you can find here.  Don’t worry if you don’t know what cultural capital is, I didn’t until recently, but it is important for art teachers to know about it as it is vital for our students.
