After graduating with a BA in Fine Art, I then applied for an artist scholarship with Castlefield Art Gallery in Salford. During my time creating pieces for the scholarship programme I worked at Bolton School, Park Road. My love for workshops began when I led lunch time art clubs, which focused on portraiture, collage and mixed media. Each week the club worked with different mediums enabling the pupils to increase their knowledge, understanding and creativity of both the subject and of themselves, while mixing both play and learning into my club. I then progressed to working with secondary students which allows me to now work with pupils of different age ranges with a variety of needs.
I work with mixed media, watercolour, biro, pencil and collage. I address the beauty of multiculturalism by merging elements from different cultures with my own cultural and social experiences using a blend of exciting mediums, which acts as a form of storytelling about the diverse and rich world we live in.
Due to my experience, I can offer workshops in a range of mediums and topics. Observational natural form still life drawings in watercolour and biro pen to zoom into the intricate lines of the many beautiful traditional flowers from around the world. Pencil or oil pastel to emphasise the natural contours and highlights of the face while learning how to blend, shade and highlight. Collages to experiment the many ways paint can be applied onto paper or canvas and working with multiple layers, bringing them together by stitching onto paper with a needle and thread.
